LEARNING BY DOING
We can organize wonderful tours (private or group) in the close vicinity and beyond .... Island-hopping to the neighboring islands, whale-watching, horse-back riding, wild-life and bird viewing, water sports, boating, scuba diving, visits to coffee plantations, jungle treks, waterfalls, world-famous inshore and offshore fishing, just to mention a few.
There are no stores of any kind on the island, so visitors need to plan ahead and stop by a grocery store on the mainland. There are also no banks or ATM Cash Machines on the island or in Boca Chica. You will certainly want to have at least a few favorite staples, as well as water and other beverages in the refrigerator. There are currently two restaurants on the island as well as a very nice selection of restaurants and bars on the mainland of Boca Chica. You can buy essentials in the very small market in Boca Chica.
Even though the neighboring village of Horconcitos as well as at the intersection from the Pan American Highway, there are also two additional larger markets with the essentials, it’s always good to stock up in the city of David as these are the grocery stores with which you are accustomed. David, as the second largest city, in Panama has a great selection of any store you might need.
Once you arrive in David, you have a variety of options to arrive to the island. In addition to the possibility of renting a car, we can pick you up. We can arrange a shuttle service, you can take a taxi, a boat-taxi or even a private seaplane. If you want to jump right into the local Panamanian way, you could also be more adventurous and use the public transportation. If you used the public bus network from Panama City, we will tell you where to get out, so that you would not have to go into David. We can help you with all of this information, if desired.
From the edge of the town of David, you drive on a newly-paved, expanded Pan American Highway 32 Miles (51 KM) to the turn-off for Horconcitos, then it’s less than 20 minutes though a lush jungle landscape to the fisher village of Boca Chica on the Pacific Ocean. There are a few options to park your car in Boca Chica. We will help you with this information before your arrival After you are at the Boca Chica boat’s ramp, you will take about a 4-minute fisher taxiboat over to the island of Boca Brava. We will welcome you on the other side and take you to Isla Bambu Oceanfront Island Estate.
By the way, Panama has its own currency called Balboa. The American Dollar has the identical value and is the accepted currency throughout Panama.
